Where fashion careers begin

Advanced Modules

To follow on from the Diploma or Saturday Patternmaking, and in response to many requests, the Academy has put together there own Advanced Diploma covering three focused modules; Knitwear, Party Dress and Tailoring. You may take this Advanced course over 1 year, or choose to do one or two particular modules only.

  • During each module you will pattern draft and construct a number of samples and garments, giving you instant feedback on your creations.
  • Fabrics used during the modules will be supplied by the Academy however you will need to purchase your own fashion fabric for the prescribed completed garment/s.
  • At the end of each module there will be a 3 hour patternmaking exam and 1 hour theory exam, your garments will be marked as an internal assessment.
  • Each module can stand alone, and participants will achieve a Certificate of Completion for each module; the NZAF Advanced Apparel Production and Development Diploma is offered to those who complete all 3 modules.
It is a prequiste to have done Saturday Patternmaking or the Academy’s Diploma study and be a competent sewer or seamstress.

The complete course starts April 2018 and is 2 days per week, Monday and Tuesday 9.30am – 3.30pm. We follow the secondary school year, and their holidays.

Modules may be taken separately either day or evening, see courses for details.

You may enrol for a particular Module if you have already completed our Diploma, Saturday Patternmaking or have some pattern drafting experience.
