To follow on from the Diploma or Saturday Patternmaking, and in response to many requests, the Academy has put together there own Advanced Diploma covering three focused modules; Knitwear, Party Dress and Tailoring
. You may take this Advanced course over 1 year, or choose to do one or two particular modules only.
- During each module you will pattern draft and construct a number of samples and garments, giving you instant feedback on your creations.
- Fabrics used during the modules will be supplied by the Academy however you will need to purchase your own fashion fabric for the prescribed completed garment/s.
- At the end of each module there will be a 3 hour patternmaking exam and 1 hour theory exam, your garments will be marked as an internal assessment.
- Each module can stand alone, and participants will achieve a Certificate of Completion for each module; the NZAF Advanced Apparel Production and Development Diploma is offered to those who complete all 3 modules.
It is a prequiste to have done Saturday Patternmaking or the Academy’s Diploma study and be a competent sewer or seamstress.
The complete course starts February 2016 and is 2 days per week, Monday and Tuesday 9.30am – 3.30pm. We follow the secondary school year, and their holidays.

You may enrol for a particular Module if you have already completed our Diploma, Saturday Patternmaking or have some pattern drafting experience.
