Where fashion careers begin



DSC_3321-001If  you want to work in the captivating world of fashion, start your career with one of our fashion design programmes, taught by experienced tutors. The hands on practical course offered by NZ Academy of Fashion gives you the opportunity to further your studies, work for someone else in the industry or start your own business. Our Diploma course will give you the practical skills you need to succeed at any level of the fashion industry.

At the Academy we offer:

  • Small classes – 1 tutor to 8 students ratio
  • Proven International Diploma course
  • Excellent results 90% pass rate
  • Is an internationally recognised Diploma
  • Subjects covered are: – Patternmaking, Garment Construction, Illustration (fashion drawing), Design, and History of Fashion
  • The aim of the Diploma is to facilitate Design students’ learning in a creative environment that permits them to gain higher level conceptual and design skills.
  • Students will gain professional competency and specialised technical knowledge and to cultivate these skills and knowledge
Because of our tested and proven approach to learning the Academy is certain that a student who attends all classes, completes all homework, participates in class activities and the fashion show will be ready to graduate at the end of the course.

If a student who has followed the above criteria does not graduate then they will be entitled to repeat the diploma at 25% of the course fee.

We are based in Level 5, 5 Short Street, Newmarket, Auckland.

Day Diploma

Special intake for 2016, be prepared for study next year.  From April 2016 our day diploma is over  3 days per week – 9.30am – 2.30pm  with optional self-directed study at the Academy. read more


Evening Diploma

Diploma 1 evening per week and 10 Saturdays per year at the Academy, also homestudy, over 1 year.   Work while you study and enjoy studying with other like minded individuals.  You are encouraged to join in the activities of the Academy, Fashion Show and other outside competitions.  You will learn to make your ideas reality. read more


 AsymAdvanced Modules

There are 3 advanced modules, Knitwear, Party Dress and Tailoring  which you can take over the course of a year, or do each module seperately.  These courses build on the skills gained in either the Patternmaking or Diploma courses. read more
