Following on from Beginning Patternmaking or any of our patternmaking coures this class gives you the opportunity to pattern draft from your own basic block, and translate it into a finished garment.

“At the Academy”
The course will include basic sewing skills required to assemble a skirt, pants, and a bodice (dress). We will select a pattern for you that involves different skills for each garment.
This course is ongoing, in blocks of 4 sessions each and depends on the pace at which you achieve your targets. This is to ensure the pattern making skills you learnt in Beginning Patternmaking, that are 2 dimensional, are given life by creating a 3 dimensional garment.
Draft and Create Classes
- A class in designer techniques for sewists who want to improve their sewing skills.
- Tools – Patternmaking Tools for the first half of your project, and sewing kit for the second half.
- You will need to provide the calico and notions for you to prove and construct your pattern so you have a blueprint for future garments.
- With the skills learned in Draft and Create you can make a garment in your own size and choice of fabric once you have made a toile (calico). Each days class will build upon techniques learnt in the previous class.
- Learn about fabrics, the where and what you should use for which design. If you are not sure where to go, we can tell you the best places to purchase fabric, or of course you can use your own stash.
- Learn to fit the body expertly
Small intimate classes to ensure you get individual attention when you need it.
